Good morning to all...unfortunately the HPD was unable to locate Thomas Kahooilihala last night before he got away. I want to thank everyone for their vigilance in our neighborhood and keeping our community safe. Via the text chain I kept you all as updated as they were keeping me. There is no protocol for the police to notify neighborhood watch except to try and let us know what's going on and keep us all safe.
In reference to the fireworks mortar that went off late last night during the search, a few of you questioned how they know what it is. Believe me, they know. The mortar is extremely loud, much louder than a gunshot and just sounds like a small cannon exploding. There are no lights to it, no sparkly magic, just an incredibly loud noise. They are illegal for a reason and normally upset everyone when they aren't sure they know what it is. I believe it's the same person in our neighborhood who continues to set them off and it was just unfortunate last night they decided to do it while the police were searching for him.
Be safe and have a good day out there.
Marianne
