Aloha all:
I have attached an email from Patricia on Road 1. Please do not hesitate to call the Police ANYTIME you are afraid for yourself, your neighbor, etc. Pass on the information as Patricia did. I also made contact with the Community Police officer for our area and he is checking into what will happen with the guy. I'm appalled that anyone would pull up in front of your house and just make themselves at home, but we do live in scary times. Please take photos if possible and always forward those to me even if the police know. They may come back later and need more information from us. Once again, I'm glad everything was resolved peacefully. Hopefully, Parry and I have found someone who is willing to use a welder for the Neighborhood watch signs, if not we are going to purchase the nut/bolts to install them.
Be safe out there.
Marianne
On Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30, a white male with greying facial hair, beer belly, and driving a blue pickup truck, license plate ZCU 550, pulled into my neighbor’s driveway on Rd 1 Mauna Loa Drive side and repeatedly went into her yard and consequently stole her surfboard and other items, tried to get into the house and went to the bathroom in a bucket on her porch, according to the police.
Our neighbor is young and after the first encounter with the man where he came into her yard and stole her surfboard she was distressed and no longer felt safe and so she stayed with a family member and thankfully was not there when this man kept coming back.
I live nearby and our dogs barked each time this man drove up and we called 911 each time.
On the first day while waiting for the police my husband stood in our driveway while the man spoke incoherently and smoked a joint and then left. The police arrived after he left and the young woman’s mother, who lives next to her, reported what we saw to the two officers. The police were on our street for a while and left but the man came back later that day (Friday) and twice more on Saturday morning.
The police found stolen goods and said he was going to be arrested but could be out on bail or released on Monday or be in a treatment program. I don’t know this man’s reasons or mindset - he may have been looking for a place to hide out and acted impulsively without boundaries and was opportunistic. The young woman was and is very distressed by his actions and so is my family.
