Aloha Neighbors,
Most of you are aware there were two murders in our Aloha Estates neighborhood in the past 12 months. Over the years we have also encountered many burglaries and a tremendous number of junk vehicles being dumped along our roads. Now that many more people are moving in and building homes here, it is time to revisit implementing a Neighborhood Watch program.
Marianne W. who lives in Aloha Estates is willing to be the Neighborhood Watch coordinator as this program gets started but it will only work if some residents on each road participate. Participation is simply being the eyes and ears of each road and reporting suspicious behavior to the police. Participants are NOT to take matters into their own hands.
Another major benefit to implementing this program will be signage provided by the police department. "Neighborhood Watch" signage posted on each road is a great way to provide visibility of our coordinated efforts to protect our neighborhood. The familiar Neighborhood Watch 5"x5" window decals may be distributed for households to place in their front window to deter potential criminal activities against you or your neighbors.
This program will be a separate activity outside the purview of the Aloha Estates Association (AEA).
If you are interested in learning more about this program and/or attending a meeting in the near future hosted by our local police department, please contact Marianne at 1parryhawaii@gmail.com
