Pellet Gun Shooting on Rd 1

A young woman was shot in the back by a neighbor who was shooting a pellet gun for target practice shortly after 3 pm this past Saturday on 'Ohia Nani Rd (1). A neighbor reported that seven police squads responded to the incident and blocked off the road at Mauna Kea Drive. Police canvassed the surrounding neighbors and spoke with the victim; they were seen escorting the shooter, who lives in a yurt across the street from the victim into a police vehicle near the Stop sign at the intersection. Three pellet guns were confiscated and he was arrested and taken into custody but released the next day after his girlfriend posted bail.

The perpetrator's name is Rick and he is the same man who was arrested last year in August because he terrorized/burglarized a residence further down Road 1 towards Volcano and peed on the homeowners' porch. I mention this because it is known that "anti-vax" followers believe drinking their urine will help fight Covid-19 and Rick had sprayed the victim and her young son with a bottle of his urine on a separate earlier occasion and told her that it (his urine) was worth a lot of money and good for her.

The victim, a recent transplant from the mainland and new homeowner in Aloha Estates wanted to alert the community about this crime and provided these photos to corroborate her story. The first photo is the pellet gun shot to her back and the second photo is the shot to her vehicle's bumper while it was parked in her driveway. A third photo showed the perpetrator sitting on his front steps but it was decided not to present it on this platform. At the time of the incident, her young 2 year-old son was playing in the front yard where the shots were fired at. We are grateful that he was not injured. Our Neighborhood Watch is aware of this crime and the victim filed a TRO against the man on Monday.
